Services and Policies
Psychiatric Services
We are currently accepting new patients. This practice is primarily telepsychiatry based, using a HIPPA compliant video conferencing format. This means that you have the highest standard of privacy in care. You will be able to see me from your home or any private location you are comfortable in, as long as you are in Louisiana or California at the time of your visit and you have computer, tablet, or smart phone access with broad band internet service. In person office visits will be available for Louisiana residents on an as needed basis.
This practice is geared towards adults who desire a wholistic approach to mental health involving their medical, psychosocial, spiritual and lifestyle experiences into psychotherapy and/or medication management. The goal is to provide comprehensive care in order to get you on the path to emotional wellness and optimize your functioning.
Telepsychiatry is a great way to provide excellent psychiatric care to patients, however it does not lend itself to the proper treatment of patients with severe substance use disorders, major psychotic disorders, severe bipolar disorder, dementia, or psychiatric emergencies. We are not equipped to manage psychiatric conditions that require urgent care or 24/7 treatment. A large health care system or a community mental health care clinic is better equipped to treat these patients.
We prescribe DEA Schedule II medications like stimulants and/or narcotics (Adderall, Ritalin, or other stimulants) in compliance with the Telemedicine laws in Louisiana and California. In compliance with the Ryan Haight Act, these medications (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, etc.) are only prescribed to patients that can be seen in person. *There are exceptions in certain circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic and only in accordance with the current laws, these will be made.
How it Works
Schedule an appolintment online. You will be sent a series of questionnaires to ensure you are an appropriate fit for this practice. If you are, then you will receive an invitation to create your own private chart in my patient portal. There, you will be able to fill out all the practice’s Intake Forms and schedule your own appointment. You will be able to communicate with me directly through the chart portal for any questions that arise. At the time of your scheduled appointment just click on your email appointment confirmation link and you will be directed to our private video conference session.
Policies and Insurance
We do not participate in any health insurance plans or Medicare and are considered an “out of network” practice. Payment will be charged 24 hours prior to each visit. We require patients have a valid credit card on file.
You will be able to print out a Superbill form from the portal in order for you to submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance as some out of network benefits do not cover my services. Typically your insurance will cover any medications or labs that I order but you must check your benefits prior to scheduling an appointment.
If stand alone medication refills are required for continuity of care because you cancel or miss your appointment without rescheduling, you will be assessed a $75 fee for medication refills.
Cancellations and Missed Appointments
We require you give us a 48 hour notice for any appointment you are unable to keep. Full fees are charged for missed appointments as this time is reserved exclusively for you.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Your records and the fact that you are being seen are strictly confidential. You must give written authorization for me to disclose or release your medical records with anyone. In the case that I need to communicate with your primary care doctor, and/or therapist, in order to provide the best care, I will need you to sign a release that would allow me to do so. There are exceptions, including: if you are a danger to yourself or others, if there appears to be abuse of a child, dependent adult, or developmentally disabled person. In such cases I am required by law to report.
At the beginning of every visit, I will ask you for your current location. This is for two reasons. First, I am licensed to practice in LA and CA, and cannot see patients that are not physically in LA or CA, second I need to know your location in the case of an emergency.
